Honey bee larval toxicity test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005390
A laboratory bioassay in which honey bee (Apis mellifera) larvae are given a test chemical in their diet and mortality is recorded daily for up to 72 hours, giving a larval LD50. It is used to judge the toxicity of pesticides to developing bees. A chronic version repeats the dosing and follows the larvae through to adult emergence.
