Microtox® test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007367
A bioassay that measures the toxicity of environmental samples by observing the light output of the luminescent bacterium Aliivibrio fischeri. The bacteria emit light as a byproduct of their metabolic processes, and exposure to toxic substances reduces this luminescence. The results are typically expressed as an EC50 value, representing the effective concentration that causes a 50% reduction in light output.
