Hydrophobic-interaction chromatography
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005489
A chromatographic method for separating biomolecules, primarily proteins, based on differences in their surface hydrophobicity. It employs a stationary phase with hydrophobic ligands and an aqueous mobile phase with a high salt concentration, which promotes hydrophobic interactions. Elution is achieved by decreasing the salt concentration, thereby reducing the hydrophobic interaction between the analyte and the stationary phase.
