Hyperextension
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013170
The movement of a joint beyond its normal anatomical range of extension, often resulting in injury to ligaments or other soft tissues. This motion forces the joint into an unnatural position, stressing its structural integrity. For example, hyperextension of the knee can damage the anterior cruciate ligament.
