Hyperplasia

An increase in the number of cells in an organ or tissue, leading to an increase in its overall size. This cellular proliferation occurs in response to specific stimuli, such as hormonal changes or chronic irritation. Unlike hypertrophy, which involves an increase in cell size, hyperplasia involves the formation of new cells.
