Hyperparathyroidism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005518
A condition resulting from excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH) by the parathyroid glands. This leads to elevated calcium levels in the blood, as PTH regulates calcium and phosphate homeostasis. Primary hyperparathyroidism is often caused by a benign tumor in one of the parathyroid glands.
