Hypocalcemia

A condition defined by an abnormally low concentration of calcium in the blood. It arises from issues such as parathyroid hormone deficiency, vitamin D deficiency, or kidney disease, which disrupt calcium homeostasis. Clinically, it is identified when the total serum calcium level falls below 8.5 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL).
