Hypo-phase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005546
The lower phase in a two-phase liquid-liquid extraction system, which is typically denser than the upper phase. This phase contains the solvent or mixture of solvents that has a higher specific gravity. The distribution of solutes between the hypo-phase and the epi-phase is governed by their partition coefficients.
