Two-phase aqueous partition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012379
A liquid-liquid extraction technique that uses a system composed of two immiscible aqueous phases for separating macromolecules, cells, or particles. These phases are formed by mixing solutions of two different water-soluble polymers, such as polyethylene glycol and dextran, or a polymer and a salt. The partitioning of a substance between the two phases depends on its surface properties, including charge and hydrophobicity.
