Immersional wetting
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005621
A type of wetting that occurs when a solid surface is completely submerged in a liquid, replacing the solid-air interface with a solid-liquid interface. This process is characterized by a decrease in the interfacial free energy of the system. The extent of immersional wetting depends on the surface tensions of the solid and liquid.
