Immunologically privileged site

A location in the body where foreign antigens can be introduced without eliciting a normal inflammatory immune response. These sites have unique anatomical and physiological barriers that limit the entry and activity of lymphocytes. Examples of such sites include the brain, eyes (anterior chamber), testes, and the pregnant uterus.
