Laws of distribution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006489
The principles governing how a solute distributes itself between two immiscible phases at equilibrium. These laws describe the partitioning behavior of a substance based on its chemical properties and the nature of the phases involved. For example, the Nernst distribution law states that at a given temperature, the ratio of concentrations of a solute in two immiscible solvents is constant.
