Leukocyte common antigen

A transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of most hematopoietic cells, excluding mature erythrocytes and platelets. This antigen, also known as CD45, is a protein tyrosine phosphatase that regulates signal transduction in immune cells. Its isoforms vary depending on the cell type and activation state of the leukocyte.
