Cluster of differentiation antigen
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002147
A specific cell surface molecule that serves as a marker for identifying and classifying different cell types, particularly leukocytes. These antigens are recognized by specific monoclonal antibodies and are involved in cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and signal transduction. The CD system assigns a unique number to each identified antigen, such as CD3 for T cells.
