Macromonomeric unit
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006882
The constitutional unit that a single macromonomer molecule contributes to a polymer chain, which is much larger than the unit from an ordinary monomer because the macromonomer is itself a short polymer carrying a polymerizable end group. When such units are incorporated into a growing chain they hang from the backbone as side chains, giving a graft copolymer. Its molar mass is far higher than that of a simple monomeric unit.
