Macromonomer molecule

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006881

A macromolecule with a single end-group that lets it act as a monomer, so each molecule contributes only one monomeric unit to a growing chain. Polymerizing it alone or with another monomer gives a comb or graft polymer, in which the macromonomer forms the side chains. A telechelic chain with polymerizable groups at both ends is a different case, since it links growing chains together instead.
