Macromonomer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006880

A macromolecule that possesses at least one polymerizable end-group, allowing it to act as a monomer in subsequent polymerization reactions. These molecules typically have a relatively low molecular weight compared to the final polymer. Macromonomers are frequently used to synthesize graft copolymers, where the macromonomer forms the side chains.
