Halato-telechelic polymer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005070

A polymer made of linear chains that carry stable ionic or ionizable groups at their ends, for example carboxylate or quaternary ammonium groups. The ionic ends attract one another into aggregates that act as reversible physical crosslinks, so flow behaviour depends on temperature and solvent polarity. Coupling such chains through divalent metal cations gives a halatopolymer.
