Mass selective axial ejection
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006991
A method for ejecting ions from a quadrupole ion trap mass analyzer based on their mass-to-charge ratio. By applying an auxiliary alternating current voltage to the end-cap electrodes, ions with a specific secular frequency of oscillation along the z-axis are brought into resonance. This resonance destabilizes their trajectories, causing them to be ejected axially from the trap for detection.
