Metabolome

The complete set of small-molecule metabolites found within a biological sample, such as a cell, tissue, organ, or organism. This includes intermediates and products of metabolism, hormones, and other signaling molecules. The metabolome represents the downstream output of gene expression and protein activity, offering a direct snapshot of the physiological state.
