Dynamic exclusion

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003489

A data acquisition strategy employed in tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) where previously fragmented ions are temporarily excluded from further fragmentation events for a set period. This prevents the repeated analysis of highly abundant ions, allowing the instrument to focus on less abundant species and improve the coverage of the sample's proteome or metabolome. The exclusion time is a user-defined parameter that can be adjusted based on the experimental goals.
