Monro-Kellie hypothesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007567
A doctrine stating that the cranial vault is a rigid, non-expandable container, and therefore the sum of the volumes of its contents (brain tissue, cerebrospinal fluid, and blood) must remain constant. An increase in the volume of one component must be offset by a decrease in one or both of the others to maintain normal intracranial pressure. This principle guides the understanding of intracranial dynamics.
