Multi-centre bond
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007619
A chemical bond in which valence electrons are delocalized over more than two atomic centers. This type of bonding is characteristic of electron-deficient molecules where there are not enough valence electrons to form conventional two-center, two-electron bonds between all adjacent atoms. Examples include the three-center two-electron bonds found in diborane or bridged carbocations.
