Radical centre
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009847
The specific atom within a polyatomic radical upon which the unpaired electron is predominantly localized. While the unpaired electron's density may be delocalized over several atoms through resonance, the radical centre designates the atom with the highest spin density. The location of this centre is formally assigned in a Lewis formula representation of the radical.
