Multienzyme complex

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007636

A non-covalently associated assembly of multiple enzymes that work in concert to catalyze a series of biochemical reactions. The close proximity of the enzymes within the complex allows for substrate channeling, increasing reaction efficiency and preventing the accumulation of intermediates. The pyruvate dehydrogenase complex is a classic example.
