Isomerases

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006200

A class of enzymes that catalyze the rearrangement of atoms within a molecule, converting one isomer into another. These enzymes facilitate intramolecular changes, such as the transfer of groups or the alteration of bond positions, without changing the overall molecular formula. They are classified as EC 5 in the Enzyme Commission number system.
