Multilayer coil
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007644
A type of column used in high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC) that consists of multiple turns of tubing wound in several layers around a central core. This configuration maximizes the column volume and surface area within a compact space, enhancing the separation efficiency of compounds. The coil is filled with two immiscible liquid phases, and separation occurs as one phase is pumped through the stationary phase.
