Neurofibroma

A benign tumor that arises from the Schwann cells of the peripheral nervous system. These tumors can occur as solitary lesions or as multiple growths associated with genetic disorders like neurofibromatosis type 1. They are composed of a mixture of Schwann cells, fibroblasts, mast cells, and nerve axons within a myxoid matrix.
