Non-draining
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008020
Describing a polymer molecule in solution where the solvent within the coiled chain is effectively immobilized and moves along with the polymer. In this hydrodynamic model, the polymer coil behaves as an impermeable sphere, trapping the solvent and preventing it from flowing through the structure during movement. This behavior is characteristic of high molecular weight polymers in good solvents, contrasting with the free-draining model where solvent flows unimpeded through the coil.
