Partial free-draining

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008484

A hydrodynamic condition for a polymer coil in solution where the solvent molecules can partially penetrate and flow through the coil, but not entirely unimpeded. This behavior lies between the free-draining limit, where solvent flows completely through, and the non-draining limit, where the coil acts as an impermeable sphere. The extent of partial free-draining depends on the polymer's flexibility and solvent quality.
