Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein 1, 2

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008144

A pair of intracellular pattern recognition receptors, NOD1 and NOD2, that detect specific peptidoglycan motifs from bacterial cell walls. NOD1 recognizes a dipeptide found in most Gram-negative bacteria, while NOD2 recognizes muramyl dipeptide, present in both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Upon detection, they initiate an inflammatory response by activating the nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) pathway.
