Octanol-air partition coefficient

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008189

A dimensionless ratio that describes how a chemical distributes itself between octanol and air at equilibrium. This coefficient indicates the lipophilicity and volatility of a substance, influencing its environmental fate and transport. It is often used in models to predict the bioaccumulation and atmospheric dispersion of organic pollutants.
