Open-vessel acid digestion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008255
A sample preparation method for elemental analysis where a sample is dissolved or decomposed in an acid within an open container, typically on a hot plate. The process allows for the escape of volatile components and reaction byproducts, preventing pressure buildup. This method is suitable for samples that do not contain highly volatile analytes and can tolerate atmospheric exposure during digestion.
