Operant conditioning

A type of learning in which an individual's behavior is modified by its consequences. Behaviors followed by favorable outcomes (reinforcement) are strengthened, while those followed by unfavorable outcomes (punishment) are weakened. This principle is widely applied in behavioral toxicology to study the effects of chemicals on learning and memory.
