Optically labile
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008285
Describing a chiral compound that readily undergoes racemization or epimerization, leading to a loss of its optical activity over time. This lability can be due to facile interconversion between enantiomers or diastereomers under mild conditions, such as in solution or at elevated temperatures. Such compounds require careful handling to maintain their stereochemical integrity.
