Labile

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006403

Describing a chemical species that has a high reactivity or a short lifetime under a specified set of experimental conditions. The term is kinetic in nature, referring to the rate of transformation, and is the opposite of inert or persistent. In coordination chemistry, a complex is considered labile if its ligands are substituted within approximately one minute at 25°C.
