Racemic mixture
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009796
A mixture containing equal quantities of two enantiomers of a chiral compound. Unlike a racemic compound, the enantiomers in a racemic mixture do not necessarily form a single crystalline phase. This mixture is optically inactive due to the cancellation of optical rotations by the individual enantiomers.
