Kinetic resolution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006358
A process in which a racemic mixture of enantiomers is separated by exploiting differences in their reaction rates with a chiral reagent or catalyst. One enantiomer reacts preferentially or more rapidly, leaving the other enantiomer enriched or unreacted. This method is widely used for the preparation of enantiomerically pure compounds.
