Kinetic method

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006357

An analytical technique that quantifies a substance by measuring the rate of a chemical reaction in which it participates, rather than measuring an equilibrium concentration. The rate of reaction is monitored over time, and the concentration of the analyte is determined from its effect on this rate. These methods are often employed for trace analysis or for substances that react slowly.
