Orphan receptor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008332
A receptor for which the endogenous ligand has not yet been identified. These receptors are discovered through genomic sequencing or homology searches, and their physiological function remains unknown until a specific binding molecule is found. Many orphan receptors belong to the G protein-coupled receptor family and are targets for drug discovery efforts.
