Peak base

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008563

The segment of the chromatogram baseline that lies between the beginning and the end of a chromatographic peak. It is the interpolated line connecting the points where the signal begins to deviate from and subsequently returns to the baseline noise level. The peak width at the base, measured as the distance between the intersections of the tangents to the peak's inflection points with this interpolated baseline, is a key parameter for calculating column efficiency.
