Peak concentration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008564

The maximum concentration of a substance recorded in a specific medium, such as air or water, during a defined monitoring period. This value represents the highest level of exposure that occurred, which is distinct from an average concentration over time. For air quality standards, peak concentrations are specified for short intervals, such as one hour or even a few minutes, to regulate acute exposure risks.
