Phosphatidic acids

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008772

Glycerophospholipids in which two fatty acyl groups are esterified to the sn-1 and sn-2 positions of glycerol, and a phosphate group is esterified to the sn-3 position. These compounds serve as fundamental precursors for the biosynthesis of other phospholipids and triacylglycerols. They are found in all living cells and are signaling molecules.
