Photocaged fluorescent molecules

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013394

Fluorescent molecules whose fluorescence is temporarily suppressed by a covalently attached 'cage' group. Upon irradiation with light of a specific wavelength, the cage group is cleaved, releasing the active fluorescent molecule and restoring its fluorescence. These compounds are used in biological imaging and controlled release applications.
