Photobiology

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008807

The scientific study of the interactions between light, specifically non-ionizing radiation, and living organisms. It investigates how organisms absorb, perceive, and use light for processes such as photosynthesis, vision, and photoperiodism, as well as the damaging effects of light. The spectral range of interest in photobiology extends from the ultraviolet (UV) through the visible to the infrared (IR) regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
