Fluorogenic

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004530

Describing a compound that is non-fluorescent or weakly fluorescent but becomes strongly fluorescent upon undergoing a specific chemical or physical change. This transformation typically involves enzymatic cleavage, hydrolysis, or binding to a target molecule. Fluorogenic substrates are widely used in biochemical assays to detect enzyme activity or specific analytes.
