Photoinitiation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008879
The primary step in a photochemical reaction where the absorption of light leads to the formation of reactive intermediates, such as radicals or ions. These intermediates then trigger subsequent chemical transformations, often in chain reactions like polymerization. The efficiency of photoinitiation is quantified by the quantum yield of initiation.
