Photoremovable protecting group
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008921
A chemical moiety that reversibly blocks a reactive functional group in a molecule, preventing it from undergoing undesired reactions. This group can be selectively removed by irradiation with light of a specific wavelength, restoring the original reactivity of the functional group. Such groups are widely employed in organic synthesis, photolithography, and the controlled release of bioactive compounds.
