Protection of a reactive group
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009569
The chemical modification of a functional group within a polymer or monomer to temporarily render it unreactive towards specific reagents or reaction conditions. This strategy is employed to enable selective chemical transformations on other parts of the molecule. The protecting group is subsequently removed to restore the original reactivity of the functional group.
