Pnictogen bond
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009057
A non-covalent interaction occurring when a pnictogen atom (Group 15 element) in a molecule forms an attractive interaction with an electron donor. This interaction arises from an anisotropic distribution of electron density around the pnictogen atom, creating a region of positive electrostatic potential. The strength of this bond can be comparable to hydrogen bonds.
